Press Information Bureau Government of ******* SHRI JATUA DISCUSSES EXTENSION OF LAKSHMIKANTAPUR LINE UPTO BAKKHALI WITH RAILWAY OFFICIALS Kolkata : October 26, 2009 The Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting Shri S M Jatua today discussed with the senior railway officials about the execution of the project to extend the Lakshmikantapur line under Eastern Railways Sealdah South Section upto Bakkhali. Shri Jatua alongwith the Chief Administrative Officer (Construction) of Eastern Railway Shri Daharm Pal and the Chief Engineer Shri P. K. Acharya also visited the proposed site for the Bakkhali station. Jatua later told newsmen that the entire project would cost Rs.264 crores and the railway ministry would directly purchase land from the owners for the project. He indicated that the foundation laying of the project would be done within a month. In the first phase work on laying of 9 km track between Namkhana Ghat and Chandranagar would be undertaken. It may be mentioned that the Railway Minister Ku. Mamata Banerjee has earmarked Rs.100 crore in the current budget for the project to extend Lakshmikantapur line upto Bakkhali.
