Dear Sir/Madam ,

A remarkable and outstanding work is going on at Bishnupur town of Bankura district. Here, the children friendly theatre unit MAGIC has started to engage school children in a common venture to enhance the creative capacity of young.

While Bishnupur, the land of Terracotta, is not very much famous for theatre, MAGIC from Kolkata is held extensive workshops there since January 2010.

These workshops are practical manifestation of modern teaching-learning-grooming processes. MAGIC- THE CHILDREN FRIENDLY THEATRE UNIT, is using theatre games, music, dance and acting to enhance the basic human qualities of the students.

Almost six schools and 100 students of Bishnupur town are successfully united by MAGIC.

And now it is Festival time!

Together these schools are prepared with 3 workshops oriented productions. Along with this, MAGIC will showcase their own children friendly productions. Moreover, the renowned and children friendly production 'Barda Barda', by Goutam Halder will also be performed. In addition there will be two children friendly productions by local theatre groups of Bishnupur.

So: On 4th of April, 2010, at Bishnupur Jadubhatta Mancha there is going to be the FIRST BISHNUPIR CHILDREN THEATRE FESTIVAL, with all those eight performances mentioned above. There will also be a grand exhibition on that very day (4th April) on the topic 'The Magical World of Theatre. An Off-The-Beaten-Track to Serve Children'.

The purpose of this workshop oriented programme is to find the ways of using the treasures of theatre to enhance the creative capacity of young minds in the rural sectors of our country.

Our Working Mantra:           Tell me and I shall forget

Show me and I shall remember

Involve me and I shall understand

Now we earnestly request you to give us the opportunity to reach people with our project.

We shall be highly obliged if you consider this kind of theatre oriented social venture to be of any importance.

Thanking you

Swastika Dhar (on behalf of MAGIC)
