Female foeticide could increase the number of cases of rape, adultery and HIV/AIDS

At present female foeticide is widely prevalent in
India, particularly, the Northern parts of India so
that the ratio of number of girls with reference to
boys is very skewed.  There are fewer girls and more
and more boys in Northern parts of India.  This would
ultimately result in less marriageable women being
available against more marriageable men.  So, some of
the men would per force have to remain bachelors.  To
satisfy their natural sexual appetite, they could go
to the extent of raping women in public or indulge in
adultery or go to prostitutes which would increase the
number of cases of rape, adultery and HIV/AIDS.  It is
also a well known fact that the persons who are not
able to satisfy their sexual urge,  suffer from
psychiatric disorders.  In view of this, it is for
good of the general public and also of the Government
that all people are made aware of these facts and the
tendency for female foeticide is reduced so that we do
not have to cope with criminal cases of rape and
adultery as well as consequential murders. Also, we do
not have to deal with the HIV/AIDS epidemic and cope
with the mental diseases.  An all out campaign needs
to be launched in this regard by both the Government
as well as the NGOs.
