Chhattish Gargh Refugees on indefinite Hunger Strike for the right to Mother Tongue. CM Raman Singh betrayed!

Bhasha Andolan in East Bengal and Assam repeated in Chhattish Gargh!

Palash Biswas

Bengali refugees denied right to mother tongue in most of the states where they have been systematically scattered to kill the Adivasi Kissan Bahujan Majority uprising continued until the partition of India.

In Assam,Bengalies launched Bhasha Andolan and police killed the leadership with the fire power of the State Power. In undivided Uttar Pradesh, specifically in Dineshpur, now in Uttarakhand the refugee students continued the fight.the movement began in sixties by the students of Zila Parishad Higher Secondary School Dineshpur. In 1970, I was reading in class eight in the school and my father was very close with District board Chairman Shyam Lal Varma.I had to lead the students in indefinite strike with senior students.

We could not mobilize mass support as Bengali refugees were quite insecure in adverse condition and they could not organize themselves. My father thought I was responsible for the unwanted encounter which could desettle the vulnerable refugee colonies all over in Uttar Pradesh.

We were protesting against printing of printing of Bengali question paper in Devnagari in school exams. My father and others thought they could have solved the issue without the stirke. The insisted to end the strike as powerful leaders like ND Tiwari and KC Pant intervened.

My father publicly disowned me as he disowned me yet again during emergency while I was leading students in Uttarakhand and Bengali refugees supported Mrs Gandhi.

This was  a great crisis faced by Bengali refugees all over India until MarichJhanpi movement in seventies which began in refugee camps of Madhy Pradesh and turminated in Genocide whent the refugees tried to get home yet again in West Bengal

We could not hold on because the refugees settled in Uttar Pradesh felt themselves vulnerable and tended to compromise.I was spared but my seniors were restricted and they lost their career.I was sure that they spared me just because  to manage the Bengali leadership in the resettlement colonies.

Though I passed the class eight board exams in second division with 88 percent marks in Bengali, I had no ineteres to continue my studies.

Hence,I was sent to Shaktifarm Government High School so that I may continue my studies there.I passed class Nine from there and the principal of Dineshpur Highschool Mr.Dalakoti convinced my father to get back me there as they wanted me to appear in UP board exam from the school.

In Kachhar,Bengali refugees always had been united. But it was not the same in other states.

I stand with NIKHIL BHARAT Bengali Udvastu Samanyay Samiti because it has organized Bengali refugees in twenty two states where they have been resetttle irespective of my ideology and opinion.I appeal to all refugees including Bengali,Sikh,Tamil,Tibetan,Burmese,Bhutanese to stand together with our differences to ensure the civic and human rights and citizenship without any discrimination.

Nikhil Bharat has organized Bengali refugees in Dandkarny in complete Solidrity.

Lacs of refugees earlier gheraoed CG Assembly t o press their demands and CM Raman Singh assured them to solve their problems. It was not to happen.

Hence,Bengali refugees have launched indefinite hunger strike and right to mother tongue is their prime demand.
