torture cells in private houses while a three-member bench headed by
Justice Javed Iqbal has directed the Punjab government to issue show

In a delicate balancing act, Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai
[ Images ] on Thursday described India [ Images ] as a 'close friend',
while referring to Pakistan and Afghanistan as 'conjoined twins'. In
remarks apparently aimed at assuaging Pakistan's concerns about the
Indian presence in Afghanistan, Karzai said his country would never
allow its soil to be used for activities directed against any of its
neighbours…

ISLAMABAD, Mar 11 (APP): Reiterating that Pakistan-Afghanistan ties
were important for regional peace, security and development, the two
countries agreed to develop communications network, boost trade to 15
billion by 2015 and enhance cooperation in education, agriculture and
energy sector. A Joint Declaration issued at the end of two-day visit
of President Hamid Karzai on "Next Steps in Afghanistan-Pakistan
Comprehensive Cooperation" expressed determination by the two sides to
realize the full potential of their vast human and natural resources

New Delhi, March 10:…"Islam strongly prohibits any means of violence.
The stone pelting practice is surely un-Islamic. It causes
inconvenience to people and propels more violence," the Grand Mufti
was quoted as having said by a wire news agency, IANS…. Asked if he
had issued a fatwa against stone pelting, which some separatists
justify as a form of resistance, the Mufti said, "What I am saying is
not my personal opinion. I, as a Grand Mufti, am making it clear. When
Islam doesn't advocate or justify any violence, how can you justify
stone pelting? I am saying this in the light of Hadith (sayings of the
Prophet) and the holy Quran"…

THIMPHU: A few students in the capital, who lived within walking
distance from school, but would rather have their parents chauffeur
them to school in a car, have now begun walking. Some have started

DHAKA: Bangladesh is going to host a regional conference on climate
change in May or June in Dhaka as part of the road to the next
Conference of Parties (COP16). The European Union has proposed to
sponsor the conference, State Minister for Environment and Forests
Hasan Mahmud said this yesterday while talking to the reporters
following a meeting with 12 EU ambassadors at the state guesthouse
Meghna in the capital…
