INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S CONFERENCE IN MONTREAL AUG. 13-16

"For a Militant Global Women's Movement in the 21st Century"

Your Help is Needed!  Donate at http://iacenter.org/women/donatewfnmontreal

On Aug. 13-16, a ground-breaking conference of women from many countries and organizations will be held in Montreal to take up the crucial issues facing women worldwide,http://bailoutpeople.org/montrealconference.jpg such as war, occupation, and corporate globalization, which brings with it low wages, and sweatshops and forces millions of women a year to leave their homelands to obtain jobs.  The worldwide economic crisis is only worsening conditions for millions of women.

With the theme, "For a Militant Global Women's Movement in the 21st Century," women will assess the achievements of and discuss the struggles of women worldwide.  The goal is to draw up an action plan for building an International Women's Alliance based on solidarity, to establish a network to coordinate activities to oppose war, occupation, racism, gender discrimination, the exploitation of women workers, including migrant workers and all forms of oppression.

The conference will also celebrate the centennial of International Women's Day, which was declared in August 1910, in Copenhagen, Denmark, at an international women's conference attended by women from 17 countries.  They established this special day to further the global solidarity of women, to fight for the rights of working women and to oppose militarism and war.  For 100 years, women worldwide have marked this day.

Women will come together in Montreal who are workers, including migrants, students, farmers, youth, Indigenous people, refugees, academics, artists and more.  Anti-war, anti-racist, immigrants' and workers' rights activists will be present.

The Women's Fightback Network is helping to organize women activists from the U.S. to attend this conference.

We Need Your Help!  Funds are Urgently Needed to bring activists to Montreal! Donate at http://iacenter.org/women/donatewfnmontreal

Many of you have organized against war and occupation or worked in your community or workplace to improve conditions or oppose inequities and injustice.  Many of you have donated financially to assist these struggles.

The Women's Fightback Network is asking you to donate to the success of this conference by helping with travel expenses, so that women activists from the U.S. can attend, and help to build a strong global women's fightback movement.

The Women's Fightback Network will also bring back news and reports from this conference, which will be sent out nationally.  The People's Video Network will  produce  videotapes for educational purposes.
