Ambassador Mark Sofer is an Israeli diplomat and became the Israeli ambassador to India in 2008. He joined the Israeli Foreign Ministry in 1981 and has held diplomatic positions in Peru, Norway, and New York. He served as ambassador to Ireland from 1999 until 2002. In the early 1990s, he served as a policy adviser to Foreign Minister Shimon Peres. Born in London, Ambassador Sofer holds a B. Sc in economics and international relations from the London School of Economics and an MA in international relations from the Hebrew University.
