NILAMBARPUR HOSTS SPECIAL PUBLICITY EVENT FOR WELFARE OF MINORITIES

Luxmikantapur: Monday, January 25, 2010.

 

The Sachar Committee report on the minorities had come as a real eye opener to the people of West Bengal the living condition of minorities here needed urgent initiatives that is why the Union Government has brought in Prime Minister's new 15 point programme for the welfare of minorities. This is the stage where we need to implement all the provisions of the Prime Minister's special initiatives therefore introducing better living condition, adequate provision for quality educational institutions, nearer the homes of the minority community, providing adequate financial assistance and setting up of quality centres for technical education for the younger generation are the priorities of the panchayat bodies of South 24-Parganas Zilla Parishad. Abul Kasem Mollah, Upadhakshya of the Zilla Parishad gave this assurance at a special programme at village Nilambarpur under the Achana Panchayat area here this evening. He was speaking at the special programme on the Prime Minister's new initiative for the welfare of minorities. The proramme was specially organized under the ongoing Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaign organized by the Central Government media agencies in this respect in the district of south 24-parganas.

 

Shri Santanu Palodhi, Addl. Director General, Press Information Bureau, set the programme evening in motion by explaining to the 2000 strong crowd the aims of the special interactive seminar in this interior village situated on the brink of Sunderbans peripheral area. Shri Aloke Bhattacharjee, a leading social activist in the minority dominated villages, also addressed the villagers and explained the entire list of the 15 point welfare programme. Shri Dilip Kumar Jatua, Sabhapati, Mandir Bazar Panchayat Samity and Smt. Sanian Bibi, Pradhan of Achna Gram Panchayat were present on this occasion. They briefed the villagers to keep the printed literature distributed by PIB with regard to the Prime Minister's 15 Point Programme for Welfare of Minorities for future reference and come to the local panchayat functionaries and leaders for availing the facilities of the centrally sponsored scheme.

 

Press Information Bureau and Directorate of Field Publicity jointly organized the parallel PIC event. The DFP officials held musical chair, sports quiz for about 200 children and other sporting events for their mothers and grownups on this occasion. Cultural Troupes of Song and Drama Division, later, staged cultural programmes.

 

SEMINAR ON NREGA

 

In the main phase of the PIC programme at Natter Math in Lakshmikantapur an interactive seminar was held on National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) in which eminent participants like Shri Dilip Kumar Jatua, Sabhapati, Mandirbazar Panchayet Samity, Shri Satya Naiya, Assistant Programme Officer and Shri Shouvik Baidya, Technical Assistant put their valued views over the Act and interacted with the audience who took part in the questionnaire session.
