The world need peace today

Dear Friends,

This is a historic ocassion. America has elected democratic candidate Barak Obama its president. Whether he is an African American or American, but the vote for change is a vote against Bushism. Barak has bigger responsiblity to make America less arrogant and respect the world opinion unlike George W Bush who will always be remembered as one of the most conservative presidents of America who was hellbent to make the world more bloody.

The world need peace today. Already the global melt down has created fears among the people for an uncertain future. UN is asking for a cut in anti poverty programmes. The Americans are still promoting arms race in South Asia. There are whole lot of issues.

One hope that a new chapter will be written. America will be a safe place to live and so will be the world. We hope that there wont be another Iraq or Afghanistan. Different communities in the world need to join hand. Obama's victory is a lesson for all the democracies of the world, to accept multiculturalism and shun away with old prejudices.

With George Bush shamelessly promoting rightwing evengelical groups to fulfill his hidden agenda, one sincerely hope Obama will bring United States back to secular liberal ways. It is time US show that it believe in secular liberal values and shun the fundamentalists groups which are trying to influence its global policies.

One hope that Barak Obama will not be just a symbolic occupant of white house but would do definitely more than his predecessors have done for the oppressed communities of the world. Hope he understand well, the victims of racism, casteism, untouchability, colonisation of natural resources are hitting to communities like blacks, Dalits, tribal and indigenous people of the world. Can Obama take the lead and reverse this colonial order ?
