About 500 million poor in this land don't know what is that strange thing called electricity from their birth to death.

The informed Indians fret & fume for living a couple of days without electricity.

Two Nation Thoery of 50 centuries marches ahead as usual.

On Monday July 30 and Tuesday July 31, nearly 700 million Indians suffered from the effects of the world's biggest blackout that affected 21 states and Union Territories. The people of the northern, eastern and north-eastern regions of India were hit by the massive power failure after their grids collapsed within a short time.

The blackout due to the massive power failure disrupted the normal lives of many people due to the halting of rail and air services, as well as the stoppage of industrial production. Hundreds of miners were trapped in coal mines. More than 500 trains were halted in the middle of the tracks. Commuters got stranded in Metro trains high up over the streets or in underground tunnels. There were blackouts in hospitals, hotels, schools, colleges and homes.

What could have triggered the collapse of the power grids? Uttar Pradesh, Panjab and Haryana were accused of overdrawing power, but the Governments of the three states have denied the charges of causing the tripping in the northern grid by overdrawing power on Monday.

Some of the states are definitely involved in the wholesale stealing of electricity without any fear of action against them. Who will dare to arrest the powerful leaders and their gangster collaborators involved in stealing electricity? No one can expect the most corrupt regime of the so-called clean Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to do anything against the culprits, as the UPA Government is only interested in its survival till the next Lok Sabha elections, which are due in 2014.

Many of the power failures in India are caused by the massive theft of electricity by the mighty political leaders and their big powerful gangs. By using the excuse of giving free electricity to the farmers, and subsidized electricity to the poor slum-dwellers, the crooked and corrupt politicians and their collaborators steal electricity, just like they grab the agricultural lands of many poor farmers, forcibly take over the forest lands by evicting the adivasis, clandestinely extract large quantities of ores from unauthorized mines to export them through smugglers, and illegally draw massive amounts of water from rivers, canals and lakes all over the country.

The politicians get free electricity, free telephone services, large subsidized houses on very low rents, free travelling allowances, etc, besides the big bribes they take from various corrupt deals.
De we not know that each top politician gets free electricity at massive public cost to operate 40, 50 or more air-conditioners in his numerous personal offices and homes? Such crooks also run their big farms, factories, hotels, hospitals, theaters, etc, with stolen electricity, which is supposed to be given to the real farmers for operating water pumps, and they also use cheap subsidized electricity, which is meant for hutment dwellers. To earn huge amounts of unaccounted money, the corrupt politicians also sell the stolen electricity to other fellows who own big farms, factories, offices, hotels, hospitals, theaters, etc.

So why should we be surprised at the massive power failure in 21 states and Union Territories on July 30 and 31, which closed down factories, halted trains, disrupted air services, trapped miners and lift-users, and caused blackouts in hospitals, hotels, schools, colleges, offices and millions of homes?

The massive wastage of free and subsidized electricity through massive thefts is bound to cause massive shortages of power and the tripping of grids.
