After my retirement from the army in Jan 1993, I got into doing serious research work and into writing books. I have now authored a book titled 'NOTHING BUT! By Brigadier Samir Bhattacharya. The 3770 page book in six parts tells the true story of the Indian subcontinent in particular and the world in general during the momentous 20th century. It is a saga of 8 Indian families from different religion and castes and one British family and their five generations who were once very close friends and colleagues and how circumstances of history separated them and some became the other's enemy. The families are all fictional.
The focus of the book is the disputed territory of Jammu and Kashmir and it ends in a tragic love story between a Muslim army officer and a Hindu Bengali girl who belong to the 4th generation. The book covers the period from 1892 to 2002. Since the 5th and the sixth part covered the period from the late 60's onwards and highlighted the various scams and the caste based regional politics by our political leaders no Indian publisher was willing to stick his or her neck out. The book in all its six parts perforce had to be published from the UK and USA. Since it covers truthfully of what Pakistan—India and Bangladesh had to go through after the subcontinent was divided and then subdivided, I thought it may be of interest to you. All the books were published early this year and are available through all major online booksites like from amazon.in---barnes and noble—flipkart—landmark etc It can also be viewed on my website www.brigadiersamirbhattacharya.com. I will be also eternally grateful if you could pass this on to all your friends and well wishers. My purpose of writing this epic saga was not for getting literary fame or monetary gain. It was only to truthfully narrate history in a story form so that all the coming generations realize what their fathers, grandfathers and great grandfathers had to go through during the turbulent and yet momentous 20th century. A candid comment on the book from you will always be welcome.
With warm regards
