EC orders suspension of DM & SP, Bhind, MP
The Election Commission of India has ordered suspension of a District Magistrate and a Superintendent of Police in Madhya Pradesh for dereliction of duties during the conduct of bye-election in the State. Both these officers were posted in Bhind and the matter related to bye-election from Gohad Assembly Constituency. The Commission had earlier received complaints about ineffectiveness and partisan behaviour of these officers. The Commission obtained separate reports from its Observer and the Chief Electoral Officer, M.P., before taking such action. Substitute Officers as recommended by the Election Commission have already taken position in the district.
While deciding action against the two officers, the Commission observed that it would not accept any partisan behaviour or negligence in election related duties from any quarters.
