CBI REGISTERS A CASE AGAINST SIX OFFICIALS OF INDIRA SAGAR PROJECT (ISP), NHDC, KHANDWA AND OTHERS FOR CAUSING LOSS OF ABOUT
RS. ONE CRORE

The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a case U/s 120-B r/w 420, 465, 471 of IPC and Section 13(2) r/w 13(1) (d) of PC Act. 1988 against six officials of Indira Sagar Project (ISP), Narmada Hydro Electrical Development Corporation (NHDC), Khandwa (M.P.) i.e. the then Chief Engineer (Mechanical Maintenance Work), Asstt. manager (Ele.), Engineer (Mech), three Engineers (Ele.) and a Pune based firm through its Directors & others on the allegations that the then Chief Engineer (Mechanical Maintenance Work), Asstt. manager (Ele.), Engineer (Mech) & Engineers (Ele.) of Indira Sagar Project, Narmada Hydro Electrical Development Corporation (NHDC), Khandwa had abused their official position as public servants during the period 2003-2007 and indulged in criminal conspiracy with a private firm of Pune.
In furtherance of the criminal conspiracy they fraudulently verified and certified false bills, submitted by Pune based firm for execution of extra works at Indira Sagar Project. The bills were recommended for payment by Engineer (Electrical), Indira Sagar Project and other officials working in the same Division under the then Chief Engineer (Mechanical Maintenance Work) and approved by Chief Engineer (Mechanical Maintenance Work), Indira Sagar Project, knowing fully well that the said submitted bills were false and there was no financial concurrence of the extra works of the competent authority before approval as required by the Delegation of Power Clause 10 of Section-1. This criminal misconduct of the suspect officers caused undue pecuniary advantage to the tune of Rs. one Crore (approx.) to firm & the suspect officials themselves and corresponding loss to the Narmada Hydro Electrical Development Corporation (NHDC).
Further investigation is continuing.
