KOLKATA SIGHT SEEING TOUR BY ITDC

India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) a Government of India
Undertaking under Ministry of Tourism is going to start a regular
Kolkata Sight-seeing service from 10th August 2009. The Minister of
State for Tourism, Shri Sultan Ahmed will inaugurate the service from
Victoria Memorial.
This initial Non-AC service is expected to showcase the rich heritage,
diversified culture and religion, bustling street and bewildering
variety of facets of Kolkata before both the domestic and
international tourists. The said regular escorted service of
approximately 10 hours (08.00 am to 06.00 pm) is proposed to cover
some of the prominent places of Kolkata like – Belur Math,
Dakshineswar Kali Temple, Jain Temple, Tipu Sultan Mosque, Nakhoda
Mosque, Mother House, St. Paul's Cathedral, Jorasanko Tagore House,
Victoria Memorial, Indian Museum, Town Hall (Kolkata Panorama) etc. In
order to make this tour affordable to the general tourists, the cost
of the ticket has been kept as Rs.200/- per person only. Depending on
the demand, ITDC may extend AC service to the tourists in the near
future.
On the inaugural day, the street children of Kolkata will be taken on
a half day city tour.
