Jal, Jangal, Jameen aur Khaneej ho Janta ke adheen | Community Control over Natural Resources
[Jan Sansad to discuss land rights, agrarian crisis, farmers and seed sovereignty and key legislations around it]
Dear Friends,
You know the Jan Sansad started with an assertion of the democratic rights of the people on November 26th at the Mavlankar Hall. Various movements have come together for 5 days from November 26-30 in this Jan Sansad raising a myriad of issues and towards setting up and agenda and evolving a people's Manifesto.
It is in this regard that on day 4 we are taking up the issues of communities control over natural resources – jal, jangal, jameen and khaneej which are being handed over to the corporattions on a platter. Loot of countries resources are going on an unprecedented scale. People's movements have challenged it across the nation and corporate India is feeling the heat as a result they are now colluding with the government and political parties to draft anti people legislations.
This is to invite you to join us on day four and lend support to demands of the adivasis, dalits, farmers, workers and everyone for their right over the land, water, forest and oppose any demand for appropriation by the governments and corporations in the garb of public purpose.
Day 4 Agenda: Land Rights, Agriculture and Natural Resources | 10 :00 am onwards Jantar Mantar
Proposed Right to Fair Compensation, Resettlement, Rehabilitation and Transparency in Land Acquisition 2012 | Land Reforms Task Force | Seeds Bill and Bio-technology Bill | Budgetary allocations to agriculture | Remunerative prices for farmers | Sustainable farming and farm livelihoods | Income guarantee for farming households | Mining Policy and proposed Mining Bill
Press Conference at Jantar Mantar 3:30 pm to be addressed by Medha Patkar, Aruna Roy, Kavita Kuruganti, Vimal Bhai, Bhupinder Singh Rawat, Sreedhar and others |
Please do join us at the Jan Sansad and discuss some of these key legislations pending infront of the parliament and let us challenge UPA government's anti-people reform agenda all done in our name.
