A Public Convention on Babsaheb`s Mission forgone,ANIIHILATION of Catse happened in Kolkata, the prime center of Manusmriti Hegemony in India. It happened becuase of involvement os students and youth in Ambedkirte movement after the institutional mureder of Dalit Scholar Rohit Vemula in Central University whereafter RSS and its government engaged everything that Rohith was not Dalit at all.
Thus, the mother of Rohit Vemula,Radhika Vemeula and Rohith`s brother Raja Vemula could not be present in the convention as scheduled and media persons gathered were quite disappointed despite overwhelming message from the Mother fighting against patriarchy as well as Manusmriti was presented and it clarified that they had to be present in a court to justify their Dalit Identity. The mother and son have recently converted as Buddhist.
"No revolution without annihilation of caste, no annihilation of caste without resolution": Professor Partha Sarathi Roy of IISER-Kolkata.
According to those participating in the convention, after Hyderabad Central University and Jawaharlal Nehru University, Jadavpur University has not only shown solidarity but resistance to the "Hindutva forces".
At the convention both Anand Teltumbde and Dontha Prasanth hailed the social reformation in West Bengal and said that the State has never been appreciative of caste system. A resolution was later adopted seeking justice for Rohith Vermula and measures that Dalit students do not face discrimination in institutes of higher learning.
Professor Parth Sarthi Roy teaches maths and he mathematically exposed the phenomenon of caste discrimination in higher education centres in India.Roy and Kunal Duggal another faculty cited real instances of exclusion and execution of the SC ST OBC nad minority students and their persecution whereas Rohith`s friend concentrated on Ambedkarite ideology and Rohiths spectacular project, annihilation of caste!
The resistance should be replicated in other educational institutions, say academicians!
Bengali media as expected blacked out the incident as The Hindu and the Economic Times projected Jadavpur Student`s Movement which pinpoints the importance of the silent revolution created by the Generation next which is more Ambedkarite than those claim to be thanks to their Birth Tags and Reserveation Quota Tags.
Radhika Vemula questioned the justification of this biological identity which makes irrelevant every other thing to invite eternal persecution!
Nevertheless, Friends of Rohith Vemula, and a section of academicians demanding justice for him, hailed the opposition of Jadavpur University students to the "onslaughts" of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (AVBP).
At a convention, held in the city on Sunday, by the West Bengal Chapter of Joint Action Committee for Social Justice, a forum demanding justice for the deceased Hyderabad Central University student, Anand Teltumbde, a Professor of Indian Institute of Technology, said that "the spirit of resistance put up by Jadavpur University was commendable".
West Bengal Chapter of Joint Action Committee for Social Justice explained the theme of the convention as follows:
The institutional murder of Rohith Vemula has brought to the fore what has always been true in India—a systematic and structural oppression of Dalits and Adivasis by caste Hindus. While this has always been true in India—be it in the dispossessing of people of marginalised community for grabbing resources for industrialisation, or be it in more progressive spaces of education institutions—there is a particularly brazen nature in which these attacks have come down more recently under the current BJP government, the political front of the Fascist Hindutva brigade. It is extremely important that we keep caste at the centre of our struggle for any emancipatory endeavour in the Indian context.
Keeping this in mind, Joint Action Committee for Social Justice (West Bengal) is organising an open convention on June 5, Sunday at Bharat Sabha Hall at 4:00 pm. The speakers would include Radhika Vemula, Raja Vemulla, Dontha Prashanth, Tathagata Sengupta, Anand Teltumbe, Dalit transgender activists and others. We will hear about individual experiences of many people who have experienced oppression and has also fought back. It is crucial for us to learn from their individual experiences and struggle as we try to get more theoretical clarity on the questions of caste, patriarchy, class and their intersection, as well as understand what it takes to fight back.

Right from the panel of the Caste Annihilation convention, underlining that the resistance put up by Jadavpur University students should be replicated in other educational institutions, Professor Teltumbde expressed hope that when colleges and universities reopen after summer vacation more such resistance will be visible. Rohith Vemula's friend and Hyderabad Central University student Dontha Prasanth also welcomed the "resistance" by JU students.
"We welcome the resistance and this should continue in every academic institution," he said.
Dontha Prasanth quoted Baba saheb Ambedkar to warn that the agenda of Hindu Nation is the ultimate danger we have to resist UNITED as ROCK SOLID.
Dontha Prasanth said that the AVBP is trying to enter educational institutions in the country by appointing persons of their choice to key administrative posts and then inciting violence in the campuses. At least on two occasions in the past few months the students of Jadavpur University have been at loggerheads with supporters of ABVP. Only last month a Left-affiliated student organisation of the University and ABVP sparred over the screening of Vivek Agnihotri's film Buddha In a Traffic jam .
The resolution read by Professor Partha Sarathi Roy of Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Kolkata said, "No revolution without annihilation of caste, No annihilation of caste without resolution".
