Warkaris who dug the road towards Dow site released !

The warkaris had dug the access road to the Dow Chemicals construction in the morning at 9.00 am. The warkaris waited for the police to get arrested. finally 21 warkaris were arrested by the police authorities including one 17 year old boy.

Due government's anti-democratic and anti-people policy of promoting the interests of the notorious Dow Chemicals, the warkaris of Maharashtra are now forced to take these kind of actions which they will continue to do so to protect the sant bhoomi.

This action of the warakaris has reiterated their strong resolve to not to allow the notorious Dow Chemicals in their sacred land. At the same time it has also once again showed the governement's subservient approach towards their masters namely the notorious US multinational Dow Chemicals. They have gone to the extent of not only handing over the land which was under the control of the Gram Panchayat to the Dow, or giving permission to start construction without getting prior permissions, but has gone to extent of terrorising its own people. It seems that the govt. no matter whatever their political colour might be are bent upon serving not the people but the imperialists. The West Bengal govt. has been trying to somehow bring the Chemical Hub in Nandigram or other place in which Dow has a major stake, Maharashtra govt. is fighting against its own people for bringing in Dow Chemicals and BJP which is not in power either in Bengal or Maharashtra or in the Centre is taking election donations from the notorious Dow Chemicals. How can we explain this phenomenon? In a democracy when all the political parties, rulers become stooges of the imperialists then there is no alternative for the common people but to fight against such forces.

For the past 7 months, the agitation was peaceful and non-violent. We have been trying to use every democratic, legal space which has been guaranteed to us by the Constitution. The authorities however, as in the case of SEZ have been consistently sabotaging the very spirit of the constitution thereby shamelessly disowning its responsibility of welfare and protection of its citizens. We have been consistently agitating democratically and the govt. has always stood by the multinational and has used high handed tactics against the protestors. We have been successful in mobilising the public opinion all over Maharashtra. Today, the kirtankars and pravachankars of Maharashtra are enlightening the common people, farmers about the notorious Dow Chemicals, and the anti-national, anti-constitutional SEZ. The Warkaris of Maharashtra are against Dow. Even they have been consistently pointing to the authorities to not to support the notorious Dow. But the govt. has been adamant and the Dow Chemicals which has a hidden agenda (Look at its notorious past) is still tyring to construct its plant.

In such a situation, when the democratic space is totally sabotaged by the democratically elected govt. for safeguarding the interests of the capitalists much against the wishes and aspirations of the common people, then the actions that warkaris have initiated against the Dow Chemicals are not only going to continue but would increase in its intensity. Because this is land is of Jagadguru Tukaram Maharaj and also Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj !

We as common people, peasants, workers, youth need to seriously re-think about our democratic setup and correct it as has been envisaged by the constitution.
