Various MPs have warned Central Province leaders eyeing the presidency
outside the Party of National Unity (PNU) that they were bound to
fail. If they aren’t ready to fight for the seat in one unity.
The legislators said although it was a democratic right for anyone
from the region to vie for the presidency, those willing to go for the
top seat should remain united under PNU.
As the Government Chief Whip George Thuo, said the region should
approach the 2012 polls united.
He also added that those seeking the top office outside PNU were
doomed to fail and that politicians against President Kibaki’s
proposal to strengthen PNU were enemies of the province.
Another legislator against the central Mps move is Uhuru Kenyatta who
wants the review of constituency boundaries to be given priority in
the formation of the new constitution. He said this would ensure equal
distribution of resources.
He said most constituencies were vast and heavily populated.
"Before a comprehensive review is done, we must ensure that the
constituency boundaries are demarcated on a one-man-one-vote basis,"
The Deputy Prime Minister said.
For now it seems that all the Central Kenya MPs are only targeting the
2012 elections and who might be the winner in the elections.
Do you think it is the right time for the legislators to be focusing
on the 2012 elections or should they rather serve the public and wait
for 2012?
